52 on Friday | Week 49 | Childhood Memory

I’ve been bad. I haven’t kept up with the 52 on Friday project. But just a few weeks from the end, I’ll try to hope back in.

I totally feel redneck posting this, but I have memories of going down to Oklahoma to visit my great grandparents and eventually my grandparents when the moved there, wearing orange, and practicing shooting a rifle. It’s sort of an “introduce the city kid to the country” ritual down there. So now, we are introducing my city-kid-Houstonite-twin-cousins to the tradition. My dad and uncle own this land (a tree farm) together down there, so over Thanksgiving, it was the perfect tune and place for us to do a little target practice. Turns out, they aren’t too shabby! Here they are, one hiding behind my brother while the other tries his hand at the rifle. Hopefully this will be one of their favorite childhood memories!

Just to recap: What is 52 on Friday’s? Every Friday morning, for 52 weeks, myself and 18 other photographers post a photograph we’ve taken that represents that week’s theme. If you continue to click on the link under each photographer’s post, you should see 18 other thematically-tied pictures and eventually make it back to my site. This week’s theme is “Halloween.”

It’s always good to keep kids on their toes!! Cool tradition.

So cool, we both shared something that we enjoyed as kids that our kids are now getting to enjoy! It just keeps going! Cute picture!
